Partnership Details

The Cabildo of La Palma officially becomes a member of the Canary Islands Agency for Natural Environment Protection, enhancing local efforts to safeguard the island’s natural spaces. This cooperation, formalized through a signed agreement, allows La Palma to delegate certain environmental oversight powers—such as inspection, enforcement, and management of protected areas—to the regional agency.

By joining, the island commits resources including personnel, equipment, and funding worth approximately 120,000 euros for 2025, strengthening environmental enforcement and conservation efforts.

Significance of the Partnership

This partnership is a significant step for La Palma, which gains access to specialized regional expertise and operational support for environmental regulation. It also aligns with national laws promoting inter-administration collaboration for better resource management and environmental stewardship.
