New Hunting Training Regulations for El Hierro

The Cabildo of El Hierro has announced new rules for training hunting dogs and birds of prey, set to take effect from February 1 to May 31, 2026, and June 7, 2026, until the start of the hunting season.

Training Zones and Schedule

  • These regulations designate specific training zones on the island:
    • Iramas in the south
    • La Cumbrecita in Isora for winter
    • La Dehesa Comunal
    • La Guancha-Las Salinas for summer
  • The training periods are:
    • February 1 to May 31, 2026
    • From June 7, 2026, until the start of the hunting season.

Limits on Training Animals

  • Number of dogs allowed:
    • Up to six per hunter
    • Maximum of 12 for groups
  • Purpose: helping to regulate hunting activities and minimize environmental impact.
