Insular Water Council Initiates Planning for New Water Storage Tank in El Hierro
Water Infrastructure Development on El Hierro
New Water Storage Tank Project
The Water Council of El Hierro has begun the process to build a new water storage tank in San Andrés, a project aimed at improving the island's water infrastructure.
This tank, scheduled to hold 10,000 cubic meters, will be located at Los Pozos and features five staggered basins built with reinforced concrete and alveolar plates. It will include facilities for water filling, distribution, pumping, and levels control, along with electrical, telecommunications, and safety systems.
This development aligns with national and regional water laws, ensuring it integrates into the island's high-capacity water transport network.
Public Review and Approval
Residents and organizations have 20 days from the official publication to review the project plans and submit any concerns or objections.
The plans are publicly available at the Reina Isabel Water Management Office in Valverde.
Benefits and Goals
The project promises to bolster water supply reliability for the local community, which is vital given the island’s ongoing efforts to address water scarcity and infrastructure resilience amid environmental challenges.
