Overview
The Canary Islands government has introduced new regulations to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) based on the growing need for internationalization and digital expansion.
Recognizing that small firms in Tenerife and Gran Canaria form over 90% of local businesses, the new measures aim to facilitate their entry into international markets through tailored advice, financial aid, and streamlined administrative processes.
Key Focus Areas
- Enable SMEs to enhance their export capabilities
- Participation in international trade fairs
- Development of promotional materials tailored to foreign markets
Support Measures
- Technical and advisory support from recognized entities
- Maximum of €400 allocated for professional consultancy
- Coverage of costs for:
- Participation in trade shows
- Promotional campaigns
- Legal or administrative expenses involved in exporting
Eligibility Criteria
- Demonstrate genuine potential for international growth
- Be registered in Tenerife or Gran Canaria
- Have been established for at least one year
Application Process
- Emphasizes simplicity and digital processing
- Applications are processed electronically
- Supporting documents are submitted digitally to reduce bureaucratic hurdles
Funding & Regulations
- Funding is subject to EU rules on state aid
- Cap of €300,000 per company over three years
